REGISTERED TRAVELLER PROGRAMME EMERGES AS LEADING VOLUNTARY BIOMETRIC PROGRAMME

London, England, July 9, 2008 - Daon, a global provider of identity assurance software, is playing a critical role in the Registered Traveller (RT) programme in the US by supplying the central biometric identity management platform. RT is expanding rapidly and has become one of the most successful voluntary biometric programs in the world. With more than 175,000 current enrollees, RT is redefining approaches to international trusted traveller programmes as consumers embrace ways to move more quickly through airports without compromising security.
The RT program allows frequent fliers who are pre-approved to be positively identified at the airport through biometric technology. These passengers go through expedited security screening at specially designated lanes in participating airports. Registered travellers pay a small fee, provide background information and are issued a biometric identification card.
