Employee Credentialing

Daon delivers the identity assurance platform at the center of biometric credentialing systems for employees at land, sea and air ports, for government employees and for commercial organizations worldwide.

Governments, airports and commercial organizations are all demanding a highly secure, robust and flexible identity assurance platform that enables them to identify and authenticate employees and set policy controls and authorization levels centrally, thereby increasing overall security and reducing threats to their physical and logical assets. Daon is providing the enabling identity assurance technology for employee credentialing programs for customers such as the US Department of Homeland Security for the TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Program and London City Airport in the UK.

The TWIC Program

The US Government's TWIC Program is aimed at addressing the security challenges faced in the transportation industry through the use of strong identification and verification technology capable of proving the identity of employees. This groundbreaking program is a first of its kind because it represents common credentialing across a very large, diverse group of people working at land, sea and air ports throughout the United States.

Daon's flexible identity assurance platform, DaonEngine, is being used by the US Department of Homeland Security in this program to deliver identity assurance and common credentialing for employees across multiple physical sites, applications and systems using smart cards plus biometrics.

Daon for Enhanced Airport Security

Recent security threats have forced airport operators to re-examine their security infrastructure.

Managing the identities of employees moving through a complex airport facility and controlling their access to a variety of restricted zones and systems presents many challenges including:

  • Balancing increased security with speed of access
  • Improving security while managing costs
  • Leveraging existing versus new security investments
  • Controlling an environment where multiple contractors and employers exist

Daon's integrated identity assurance software platform, supports multiple identity mechanisms and works seamlessly with airport applications and systems. By combining existing identity mechanisms (such as cards or passwords) with biometrics, Daon enables airports to increase their overall security while building on their investments to date.

Daon for Personal Identity Verification (PIV)

Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) and subsequent NIST FIPS 201 implementing standards, established the framework in the US for a Federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) system based on secure and reliable forms of identification credentials.

Daon provides the infrastructure solutions that address the identity capture, management and proofing requirements for PIV-I. Supporting a highly scalable, available, secure and interoperable solution, Daon products deliver 'out-of-the-box' capabilities to system integrators and federal partners to put in place operational solutions immediately.
