India’s effort to issue a unique identification number to all residents launches nationwide this week. Daon’s software was selected in July for use in the project. Detailed in the Wall Street Journal on September 29 the program will eventually encompass 1.2 billion people and the UID will become the single source of identity verification throughout the country.
